More money for the front-line and more opportunities for people to have their say on Children’s Centre Services have been announced by Conservative-led Somerset County Council today
Conservative-controlled Somerset County Council is asking members of the public to have their say on plans to manage the risk of flooding in the county.
Following a reduction of £106 million from Somerset County Council's government grant the Conservative administration has reluctantly made the first round of decisions to reduce services in order to balance the Council's budget.

Families in Somerset will have a further chance to comment on proposals to change the way Children’s Centre Services are run, Somerset County Councillors heard today, Wednesday, 20 November.Conservative Cabinet Member Councillor Frances Nicholson told today’s Full Council meeting that there will be a further round of public consultations on proposals to restructure the services that would see 30 extra front-line staff and an extra £1m invested in front-line services.
A passionate public meeting about Children’s Centres in Somerset was told today that key frontline staffing will increase and a proposed restructure would see less management and admin bills and £1m more invested in frontline help.
