Somerset County Council is working closely with the Police and other agencies to ensure the roads in Somerset over Christmas are safe for motorists and pedestrians.
Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport, Cllr Harvey Siggs said "We want everyone to have a good time over the festive period. For some that will mean enjoying a drink with their family, friends and work colleagues. The message over Christmas from myself, the County Council, the Police and other services is to not drink and drive".
Cllr Harvey Siggs was speaking in relation to the County Council's website called 'Somerset Road Safety'. Cllr Siggs continued "we have invested in an excellent website that is available all year round which carries a whole raft of road safety information. I would strongly urge everyone who is thinking about drinking and driving to take a look".
The website has information about winter preparations & driving, driving courses and much more. Cllr Siggs finsihed by saying "this is an excellent site, crammed full of information for anyone wanting to use Somerset's roads. I hope residents and visitors of the next couple of weeks can safely move around the Somerset Road Network without any fear of drunk drivers. Driving drunk just isn't worth it".
