Somerset County Council’s Chairman, Cllr David Fothergill, congratulated Somerset's unsung heroes for services to their community in a special awards ceremony today.
Across the county 50 people were nominated by their local County Councillor or Parish Council for a ‘Chairman’s Award for service to the community’.
Taking place t Taunton Rugby Club, Cllr Fothergill congratulated each nominee before awarding them a certificate and small commemorative gift.
Cllr Fothergill said: “It was a huge honour to personally thank all the award winners for their services to their community. Often, they are the kind of people who don’t enjoy the limelight, but I think it’s important they are publicly thanked for the significant role they play in improving the lives of others in their community.”
