Conservative-led Sedgemoor District Council has launched its ‘Empowering Communities: Community Benefit’ film today to coincide with the Government's announcement that a ‘strike price’ has been agreed with EDF, the developer of the proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C.
The film can be viewed online via Sedgemoor YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdUE02OJ11U&feature=youtu.be&a
Leader of the Council, Councillor Duncan McGinty said of the film ‘This film tells the story of Sedgemoor’s Community Benefit campaign, which lasted around 5 years, and could see local communities receive up to £128million. With the strike price now agreed and the Community Benefit package confirmed, SDC will continue to develop initiatives to ensure the local community capitalises on its role as a pioneer in the new nuclear age’.
The film includes interviews with Councillor Duncan McGinty, local Member of Parliament Ian Liddell-Grainger, local residents and former Energy Minister Charles Hendry MP.
