Conservative MP Ian Liddell-Grainger and actor Stephen Mangan have joined forces to help Marie Curie provide care and support to more people living with a terminal illness.
Mr Liddell-Grainger, the member for Bridgwater and West Somerset and Marie Curie ambassador Stephen are pictured together with Marie Curie rapid response healthcare assistant Patricia McDonnell at the parliamentary event to celebrate the launch of the Great Daffodil Appeal, Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign.
Launched in 1986, the appeal raises much-needed funds to enable the charity to continue to provide nursing and hospice care, fund research and campaign on behalf of everyone affected by terminal illness.
The charity's free national support line also offers clinical support, enabling anyone with a terminal illness to access a Marie Curie nurse.
Mr Liddell-Grainger said he was delighted to be able to show his support for an organisation which played such a crucial role in the lives of thousands of people.
“Living with a terminal illness is a dreadful experience, not merely for the dying person but equally for their families,” he said.
“I never fail to be hugely impressed whenever I read of the work Marie Curie undertakes to make sure everyone affected by a terminal illness can get the care and support they deserve."
