Coinciding with British High Streets Week, Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow has launched her ‘Best of the High Street Awards’ competition.
There are 8 categories for best independent businesses and people are encouraged to vote for their favourite.
‘Our high streets are facing a challenging time, but there are some superb independent businesses already operating across Taunton Deane, whether they be retail shops, service outlets, restaurant, or accommodation providers.
‘I think we should shout about what they have to offer, which is why I’ve launched these awards, and anything we can do to help highlight the personal experience of shopping on the high street should benefit our local economy. I would encourage people to nominate their favourite business, whether it be in Wellington or Taunton!
‘I was very delighted that Jake Berry MP, Minister for Local Growth, attended my launch in Wellington.’
Nominations will open, online (www.bestofthehighstreet.org), on Thursday 19th July and close at 10am on Thursday 27th September. The top three nominees from each category will become finalists. Voting on Rebecca’s website on Saturday 29th September and will close at 10am on Thursday 29th November.
