Dr Liam Fox MP met volunteers at Nailsea and Backwell Rugby club at the weekend. The North Somerset MP went to support the club who were running their popular annual rugby force day. Members of the club and volunteers had come together in glorious sunshine to carry out maintenance work around the rugby pitches and in the club house. The club were also raising awareness and fundraising for Meningitis Now.
Dr Liam Fox spoke with volunteers and heard more about the Meningitis Now Charity which the club are supporting. He said “It was great to see so many people giving their time and skills and working so hard for the club and raising money for such an important cause.”
Dr Liam Fox MP also attended the opening of the public tennis courts on Salthouse fields on Clevedon Seafront at the weekend. The courts were opened by Cllr Shopland after months of hard work by the Clevedon Town Council and volunteers. They are open to the public and there is no need to book, just turn up and play; first come first served.
Dr Liam Fox, a keen tennis player himself, said “This is another fantastic facility for Clevedon and the surrounding area. I am very grateful to all the volunteers who have put so much time and energy into this project.”
