On Friday 8th June, Rebecca Pow MP held an event for cider makers, brewers and distillers across Somerset in conjunction with Boutique Bar Brands, Johnston Carmichael and BrewBroker.
Held at new venue HOST, at Bradford on Tone, the event aimed to help local businesses to reach their full potential, subsequently boosting the South West economy and helping our local producers to thrive.
Among the attendees were some well-established names such as Thatchers, Sheppy’s Cider and Taunton Cider, as well as new start-up companies in the area such as Blackdown Brewery.
Attendees had the opportunity to speak to top food and drink accountants, Francis Clark and Johnston Carmichael about the challenges of fundraising for businesses and how to seek investment, as well as an exclusive introduction to a new platform, Brewbroker, a one-stop marketplace for brewing, packaging and logistics.
Commenting on the event, Rebecca said, ‘I am so passionate about Taunton Deane and the wider South West and I'm always working with stakeholders to increase job opportunities. We all want our local economy to boom, and business expansion is key to this. I was pleased to host a most successful workshop in conjunction with Phil Harding of Boutique Bar Brands and delighted to have received most positive feedback from all of those who attended.’
