Marcus Fysh MP met a special train service on Friday 11th December at Yeovil Pen Mill. The special service celebrated significant improvements being made by South West Trains – not only more seats and services to more stations, but also refurbishment of the current Class 159 train fleet. Marcus met Tim Shoveller, Managing Director of South West Trains at Yeovil Pen Mill station.
Marcus said “It is no secret that I have been keen to promote the improvement of rail services in the Yeovil constituency; by linking the two stations in Yeovil with services running 10 times a day this will really enhance people’s ability to travel in and out of Yeovil smoothly, and to undertake the commute to or from Sherborne and beyond. Everyone is aware that traffic in Yeovil is at its limits. In addition to improving roads, we need to encourage more people to use public transport, and these improved services help do that. The increased number of services to London and Exeter are also most welcome and they all help to make Yeovil a more attractive place to live and work”.
