Minehead will be between a rock and a brass place at the weekend when two very different types of music entertain the crowds in Blenheim Gardens.
On Saturday July 18, rock band Rough Justice will be pounding out some covers of the greats from 2-4pm as well as some of their own original numbers.
The band is influenced by some of the masters of rock including Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, Kaiser Chiefs and Jimi Hendrix. It should be an afternoon to remember!
The following day, the gentler sounds of traditional brass will echo around the park as Yeovil Town Band take to the bandstand for the day.
Their repertoire includes light classics, film music and popular tunes. Bring along picnics, rugs and yourselves to enjoy a great day in true British seaside tradition!
The weekend is part of Minehead’s summer of music when Blenheim Gardens will play host to a varied programme of entertainment including Party in the Park on August 15.
West Somerset Councillor Karen Mills, who has masterminded the initiative with Caroline Ferris of Wilkie, May and Tuckwood, said: “The coming weekend will be a great mix of music from rock’n’roll to traditional brass band sounds.
“We are really grateful for the support shown so far, especially as we have used crowd-funding to finance the programme. Our appeal has reached the target of £540 but we want to keep the appeal running so that we can build up funds for next summer.”
