Two Taunton Deane Post offices are to benefit from major investment that will seem them transform into mainstyle Post Offices with longer opening hours. The branches based at One Stop stores in Galmington Road, Taunton and in High Street, Wellington, are being modernised, with the agreement of the operators, as part of a nationwide investment programme by the Post Office.
The changes are welcomed by Conservative-led Taunton Deane Borough Council as the make-overs represent yet more investment into the Borough.
Leader of the Council, John Williams, said: "It can only be good news that these branch offices will become main style Post Offices. The refurbishments will provide our communities with more modern facilities and, importantly, longer opening hours. This investment also demonstrates a commitment by the Post Office to maintain and improve these facilities for the longer term which has to be welcomed,"
The plans include providing a more modern and open plane environment, better accessability through a low-level counter and a hearing loop and some Post Office services available at the retail counter during shop hours.
The Post Offices are due to be closed for refurbishment from 5:30pm on 9th of March 2015 and then reopen on the 26th of March, the shops themselves will remain open and customers will be able to access Post Office services at other local brances. Customers are being notified via posters and leaflets.
