It was thumbs up all round for members of Somerset's in Care Council, aka SiCC. County Councillor Linda Vijeh, herself a professional chef, helps them to prepare their own food at their monthly meetings
Said Linda, "I have been involved with SiCC since becoming a County Councillor a year ago. There are currently 525 young people in care in Somerset and helping this group to learn the skills that will enable them to go on to fend for themselves once they leave care is one way in which I can support them. It's my favourite activity of the month, although they can be quite lively! The members choose what they want for their lunch and I supervise them while they prepare it. I am always surprised to find just how important food is to them. Next month we are going to prepare a picnic, and I've been given strict instructions that it must include a strawberry cheesecake!"
