Marcus will be visiting a number of locations across the South Somerset district between September 24 and September 28 as he looks to engage with as many local people as possible.

Local councillors will be accompanying Marcus at most of the event, which will be an opportunity for him to listen to the concerns of constituents and see what he can do to help resolve any problems that arise.

Linda Vijeh, a county and district councillor, will be one of those accompanying Marcus during his visit to the Ilminster area.

She said: "Although on a day to day basis people often prefer to contact their local councillor with matters that arise, sometimes it can be the intervention of the local MP that can really help to get a prompt response.

"It is also important for local people to realise that although Marcus spends most of his week in Westminster, he is always keen to be involved in local events when his busy schedule allows.

"This tour of the constituency will really help to ensure that we can engage with him on a personal level about matters that are of concern and where we want him to influence government policy and decisions."
