Transport Minister, Mike Penning MP, has given his support in principle to the dualling of the A303 after a meeting with the Conservative Leader of Somerset County Council John Osman and his deputy David Hall.
The Minister has committed civil servant assistance to help draw up the multi-million pound business plan for the Department of Transport to dual sections of the A303 in Somerset.
This follows the news that a survey of businesses along the A303 has been extended to allow more businesses to respond. They can complete the survey, which is now open till the end of August, at www.surveymonkey.com/s/A303economics.
David Hall commented, “Conservatives across Somerset have been calling for the A303 to be dualled and we are finally making progress thanks to our Conservative Government and the Conservative-led County Council.
“Everyone knows the benefits to businesses, tourism and the local communities that modernising the A303 would bring. By having a strong and dedicated team locally we can put a proper business case to the Government to ensure the project goes forward. The Somerset Conservatives are committed to delivering this.”
