Marcus Fysh MP was invited to visit Oaklands School and meet the Year Six pupils who have recently completed their own election. There were four parties who competed in the election and the winning party was Eco Green, who campaigned for better plans to clean up dog mess; increase litter picking; reduce smoking in public areas; and tackle Anti-Social Behaviour. The four parties gave a presentation of their manifestos and took questions. At the end of the presentation the tables turned and questions were fired at Marcus Fysh MP ahead of a school tour.
Marcus said “I was really impressed with the content of each of the Parties' manifestos, and the delivery of the presentations showed conviction and true belief. The topics covered were all key issues which affect us and it is great to know that the children are already aware and focused on improving the world around them. They did the right thing in contacting me to make their voices heard.”
The winning party will now be taking its manifesto issues forward and plans to be in contact with South Somerset District Council for support.
