Highbridge MP James Heappey is joining the search for a new operator for the town’s Post Office after the current Postmaster has announced his wish to sell the business. Post Office Ltd are working with the current operator to help find a buyer but are also looking at other businesses in the town which might be able to operate the Post Office services instead.
Mr Heappey said: “The Post Office provides are vital service within Highbridge and so it is sad to see the service threatened because the current Postmaster does not wish to continue.”
“I know that Post Office Ltd have been looking at a number of alternative sites as well as working with the existing operator to see whether a buyer can be found for the current business. Modern Post Office counters can go anywhere – I’ve seen them in pubs, cafes and supermarkets but could just as easily go into hardware shops, a bakery or even the local community centre. I hope that somebody in the town will be keen to take this opportunity.”
Anyone interested in exploring the opportunity to run the Post Office services in Highbridge can contact Post Office Ltd directly or can email Mr Heappey on [email protected] and he will connect them with the appropriate Post Office officials.
