David Warburton, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome, brought British rowing champion and double Olympic Gold winning James Cracknell OBE to The Train Station Gym in Frome on Friday.
James Cracknell is standing in this month’s European Parliament elections as a Conservative MEP candidate for South West England and Gibraltar. Taking a break from the busy campaign trail, James was keen to join David at the Train Station Gym, which is sponsoring the Frome Standard’s “Slim to Win” challenge. David was selected in February by the Frome Standard as one of three competitors in the challenge, and has been shaping up at The Train Station with personal trainer Richard Nicholls. The challenge concludes next week.
“While Richard has without doubt been a terrific personal trainer here at the Train Station, now that we’re in the final stages of the ‘Slim to Win’ challenge who better to help me shed those last few pounds than James Cracknell,” said David Warburton. “Pounding the streets on the campaign trail can be pretty hard going, and with only three weeks to go until the Euro elections, James is undeniably in peak form. He gave me a few great tips!”
James Cracknell’s grandparents were from Frome and he spent a great deal of his childhood in the town, staying here every summer. So he was very pleased to spend Saturday walking around some familiar areas, before delighting the members of the Train Station, and David Warburton’s trainer Richard Nicholls, by joining them to lift a few weights.
