The Repair and Renew Grant provides homeowners and businesses with up to £5000 grant funding towards establishing resilience and/or resistance measures to their property in order to minimise the risk or impact of any future flooding.
To be eligible, premises had to have been flooded between 1 December 2013 to 31 March 2014. A further announcement was made at the end of November 2014 that the scheme would be extended backwards to include premises that had been flooded between 1 April 2013 to 30 November 2013.
For applicants that were flooded between these times the Repair and Renew deadline for payment by the Government has been extended to 30 June 2015. To meet this deadline this means that all grant aided work must be completed and final invoices submitted to the relevant council – West Somerset and Taunton Deane - by the end of May 2015
The Government-funded Repair and Renew Grant scheme can provide grants for additional flood resilience or resistance measures for homes and businesses that have been hit by the floods, over and above repairs that would normally be covered by insurance. Affected residents need to apply to their local district council to bid for the grant.
Even if you have already fitted new measures following last winter's flooding you can still apply for the grant retrospectively to cover the cost.
