Following the response to his first Flood Surgery, held at the  River Parrett Café in Langport earlier this month, David Warburton, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Somerton and Frome, will hold a second Flood Surgery at the River Parrett Café on Tuesday 24th June, from 9am – 12pm.

Open to anyone whose home, business or farm was hit by the Somerset flooding, the aim of this public drop-in event is to help those affected to understand the claim process for the various flood funds available, to help with filling in forms and the application process, and to help with queries or issues regarding any aspect of the recovery of their land, business or property from flood-damage.

“My first Somerset Flood Surgery was held at the River Parrett Café on 10th June, and I was staggered by the response from local people,” commented David Warburton.

“We had people queuing up several deep for help – residents, farmers, land-owners and business-owners - all seeking information about flood recovery and advice on everything from insurance issues and tax complications to claiming compensation from the various flood funds available.

“There are so many different funds and schemes available that people are understandably confused.  Some, like one couple from Thorney I saw on the 10th, simply found the forms too intimidating and wouldn’t otherwise have claimed any money for having their house cut off for weeks.

“I’m desperately keen to make sure that people aren’t left literally high and dry.  So if you couldn’t make it to the first surgery and were in any way affected by the floods earlier this year, do please drop in to the second Flood Surgery on Tuesday 24th June, again at the Parrett Café in Langport. A team of us will again be there from 9am to 12pm.

“Last time we had great support from South Somerset District Council and we will have them on hand again.  Do pop in and take advantage of the help and advice on offer.”
